RoWheels shines in NYC pitch contest
Rowheels, a Fitchburg company led by Rimas Buinevicous, former CEO of Sonic Foundry, took top honors in the best innovation/life sciences category in a pitch contest at the New York Venture Summit. Buinevicious and his partners worked with a NASA engineer to develop a wheelchair that users can propel forward by pulling rather than pushing. There was no financial reward, but Rowheels has raised $700,000 to date and expects to begin selling its wheelchairs in August.
