Roundhouse expansion approved
The Madison Plan Commission reversed an earlier decision not to allow a proposed expansion to the Roundhouse Apartment building on Langdon Street. On a 5-2 vote, the commission approved the expansion, citing new information and the property owners’ decision to move the addition back five feet from the property line.
The Korb family, which owns the property, wants to add eight stories to the top of the 13-story building at 626 Langdon St., but the idea was originally opposed because city planners said it didn’t fit with the aesthetics of the Langdon Street National Historic District.
The expansion will bring the total number of units to 117 (with 197 bedrooms) and will include new office space and a new McTaggerts market on the first floor.
