Robinia restaurant group closes

A unique, three-sided restaurant project that opened in October 2015 at 829 E. Washington Ave. will shutter two of its three businesses — Julep, a southern restaurant, and Barolo, a wine bar — after Dec. 31.

A coffee shop, Black Locust Café, recently replaced A-OK Sunshine & Spirits at the location and remains open, at least temporarily.

The owners of the restaurant group say they just didn’t have the capital to continue and that the market never fully developed at that site.

According to a story in the Wisconsin State Journal, the owners say there is interest in the concept and they may consider subleasing.
