Report: Road traffic, transit ridership still down

report from Wisconsin Policy Forum found that after two years, transit ridership and weekday road traffic are still down compared to pre-pandemic levels. While weekend traffic has largely returned to pre-pandemic norms, Wisconsin drivers still aren’t commuting as much as they used to. Weekday auto traffic has dipped slightly and transit usage has dropped dramatically, with bus ridership down about 50% across nine Wisconsin cities. The study looked at data from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and the Federal Transit Administration. Remote work and other pandemic impacts are considered factors for the decline.
