Report: Madison’s Gen Z homeownership lowest in nation

A new homeownership report by Porch, a website that connects homeowners to local home improvement contractors, says that of the 100 most populous U.S. metros included in its analysis, Madison has the lowest rate of Generation Z homeownership. The homeownership rate among Generation Z residents in Madison is only 4.9%, compared to 15% nationally. Barriers for young homebuyers include lower earnings, student debt, increasing rents, and unprecedented increases in home prices.

Boise, Idaho had the highest homeownership rate among the Gen Z population, with 19.4% owning homes.
