Recent rain helps Wisconsin crops, but more would be welcome

Wisconsin regions that have seen rain in the past week are experiencing improved crop and soil conditions, but drought conditions persist more strongly in some areas than others and more rainfall would benefit already stressed crops, according to a Wisconsin State Farmer report.

According to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service, topsoil moisture condition rated 14% very short, 43% short, and 43% adequate. Subsoil moisture condition rated 25% very short, 42% short, and 33% adequate.
