Poll: Support for legal marijuana grows in Wisconsin

According to results from a new Marquette Law School Poll conducted July 7–10 and released Wednesday, a majority of Wisconsinites now favor legalization of marijuana.

The poll asked registered voters: “When it comes to marijuana, some people think that the drug should be fully legalized and regulated like alcohol. Do you agree or disagree with that view?”

Fifty-nine percent of respondents agreed, while 39% disagreed.

The results mark a shift from two years ago, when the poll asked voters a slightly different question: “Do you think the use of marijuana should be made legal or not?”

At that time, 46% of respondents said it should be legal, while 51% said its use should remain illegal.
