Police arrest, charge individual responsible for Dempsey Road burglary
According to a police report updated yesterday, the individual responsible for a non-residential burglary that occurred on March 3 at 3900 Dempsey Road in Madison has been arrested and charged. Paul J. Ascher, the individual in question, was charged with burglary, taking and operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent, and multiple counts of criminal damage to property.
Details provided in the incident report state that in the early morning hours of March 3, Madison police officers responded to the 3900 block of Dempsey Road and, upon arrival, were contacted by the manager of the business.
The manager reported that a suspect had broken into the business and stolen keys to a vehicle on the lot. The suspect had begun to drive the stolen vehicle into other vehicles in an attempt to leave the lot, causing thousands of dollars in damage. The suspect then fled the scene in the stolen vehicle.
At the time of the crime, Ascher was out on bail for felony cases and was also charged with counts of felony bail jumping.
