Park St. building set for wrecking ball
The former Mayland Printing Co. building at 1202 S. Park Street will be razed later this summer now that the Madison Plan Commission approved its demolition, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.
The site was slated for a 58-unit homeless apartment project from Heartland Housing of Chicago but the project lost out on federal tax credits this year.
Heartland, which opened Rethke Terrace last year on the east side and will open Madison Family Supportive Housing on the west side next year, has not abandoned the $10.9 million idea.
The current building will be demolished and the lot seeded with grass until its future is decided.
