Oscar Mayer closing delayed

Madison’s Oscar Mayer plant will now close four months later than anticipated.

The plant was to have been shuttered by the end of March, but there have reportedly been some delays on the corporate end and the closing has been pushed to the end of July.

Once one of Madison’s largest employers, only 300 workers remain, but all will be phased out over the next several months.

Meanwhile, Reich Brothers, the company that showed interest in purchasing the Madison plant, remains interested, according to a report in the Wisconsin State Journal.
