Opponents of CapX2020 power line file lawsuit

As expected, opponents of Xcel Energy’s high-voltage power line have filed a lawsuit challenging the Wisconsin Public Service Commission’s decision to approve the project, according to a report in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

The $507 million CapX2020 project, which would link La Crosse and Rochester, Minn., was approved by the PSC in May.  It is designed to strengthen the region’s network of power lines.

Opponents have challenged the need for the new transmission lines, arguing the project is based on outdated forecasts for electric demand. The opposition groups include Citizens Energy Task Force of La Crosse and NoCapX 2020 of Red Wing, Minn.
