OneEnergy Renewables, two cooperatives join forces for two solar projects

OneEnergy Renewables, along with Oakdale Electric Coop. and SolarShare WI Coop., broke ground on two separate solar projects in Juneau County this month, according to a press release today.

Together, the Webster Creek Solar Farm, located just south of New Lisbon, and the Lemonweir Solar Farm, located in the town of Lemonweir south of Mauston, are expected to produce over 9 million kilowatt hours per year for Oakdale Electric Cooperative and its members, enough to power about 1,000 typical Wisconsin homes.

These two community-scale solar projects total over $6 million in investment in rural Wisconsin and will be the first two projects in SolarShare’s portfolio. SolarShare, formed by RENEW Wisconsin in 2021 with the help of grant funding from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. (WEDC), allows people and businesses from Wisconsin to invest in community-scale solar projects.

In the past few years, OneEnergy Renewables has developed 26 operating projects in the Midwest, adding a total of 86 megawatts (MW) of solar. This year alone, it is building another 16 solar projects in Wisconsin, totaling an additional 60 MW of capacity.

WEDC is assisting RENEW Wisconsin with more than $143,000 in Targeted Industry Projects Grant funding to support the projects.
