Officials hoping to attract investors to Fish Hatchery Road

Fitchburg officials are hoping that more private investors will take advantage of commercial opportunities from Greenway Cross to Post Road around north Fish Hatchery Road. Specifically, as the city looks toward infill and redevelopment projects, it would like to attract multistory, mixed-use projects on a nine-acre parcel on the southeast corner of north Fish Hatchery and Post roads; a 3.86-acre site at the location of the Fitchburg Christian Fellowship church; and a 1.38-acre site in front of the Avalon Assisted Living Community. The goal is to encourage developer-driven work, using public spending to generate private investment in the area. Improving housing in the adjacent neighborhoods is also a goal but remains a challenge because some of the neighborhoods west of Fish Hatchery Road are dated and blighted. Meanwhile, one higher-end apartment complex, The Vue at Pinnacle Park, is currently underway on Post Road.
