Oakwood Village opening new nursing home on Madison’s west side
Oakwood Village, which is the largest retirement care organization in Madison, plans to open a new 60-bed nursing home, called Hebron Oaks Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, next week at its University Woods campus on Madison’s west side, according to a Wisconsin State Journal report.
The new $34 million facility replaces a 70-bed nursing home built in 1963 and added on to in the 1980s.
About 35 residents of Oakwood’s old nursing home, also called Hebron Oaks, will move into the new facility starting March 15. The new nursing home features 450-square-foot suites, double the size in the old building, and offer living rooms and kitchenettes separate from bedrooms that are also equipped with oxygen hookups and bathrooms with spacious showers.
The new facility also offers a 12-bed hospice wing and 48 rooms designed for short-term rehab, as well as dining rooms, a bistro, a salon, a massage therapy space, a serenity room, a therapy gym, and an outdoor agility park.
