Nonprofits may drop MATC bid
Faced with a potential construction gap of $16 million, a group of nonprofits hoping to redevelop the downtown Madison Area Technical College campus will likely pull out of the bidding, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.
The “Madison Central” proposal, from Baum Revision Real Estate of Chicago, would have transitioned the MATC campus into space for eight area nonprofits including Children’s Theater of Madison, Family Service Madison, and RENEW Wisconsin.
The plan also called for office and rehearsal space, as well as affordable living options for artists and others.
The five project finalists have until March 15 to submit detailed plans.
