New retail center to go up across from West Towne

Park Towne Development has announced it will develop a new retail center at the former location of TGI Fridays at 420 Gammon Place, across from West Towne Mall. TGI Fridays left in 2006 and was followed by other restaurants, including the Tilted Kilt. The current structure will be demolished to make way for an entirely new 8,100-sq.-ft. building able to accommodate one anchor tenant and up to three or four other tenants. The Plan Commission approved the project in July, and construction of the new building should begin in September and be completed by the end of March.
