New event connects underrepresented startup founders with investors

gener8tor, a platform to connect startup founders, musicians, artists, investors, universities, and corporations announced a forthcoming event to exclusively connect Black and brown founders with investors, according to a statement from the organization. The deadline for startups to apply for the March 4 Lighting Rounds event is Feb. 1, 2021.

The event aims to create an industry-leading pitching series centered on investing in underrepresented founders. More than 80% of venture firms don’t have a single Black investor, and just 1% of venture-funded startup founders are Black. gener8tor will provide free office hours for startups that are not selected for pitches to coach them on improving their presentation skills.
