New apartment buildings proposed near Dane County Regional Airport

City staff expressed concerns Wednesday about a proposal from a Racine developer to build two apartment buildings near the Dane County Regional Airport, according to a report from the Wisconsin State Journal.

Bear Development is proposing to build a five-story building and a four-story building with 57 parking stalls located between them at 3100 E. Washington Ave. and Ridgeway Avenue. The development would feature 192 one- or two-bedroom apartment units, 110 underground parking spaces, and 5,800 square feet of amenity space.

Members of the city’s Urban Design Commission noted concerns about the proximity of the buildings to traffic on East Washington Avenue as well as a lack of greenery and surface parking anchoring.
