Music industry has $636 million economic impact in Dane County

The Greater Madison Music City Project, in partnership with Sound Diplomacy, a research consultancy, has released the results of an analysis on Madison’s current musical landscape and how the music industry operates throughout Dane County. Among its findings, the report indicates that the local music industry generates $636 million in total economic impact, representing 5,791 jobs and a total of $218 million in earnings, according to a story from Madison365.com. Of note, the report finds that local white musicians earn, on average, 122% more than their Black musician peers and 136% more than their Asian musician peers.
