Museum opens Little John’s Lunchbox
The Madison Children’s Museum has opened Little John’s Lunchbox, a self-serve, pay-what-you-can cafe, according to a statement from the organization. The cafe is the first in the country in a museum and will be available to museum patrons during regular operating hours to improve accessibility to healthy food. Guests choose from one of six entree choices stored in a self-serve cooler and use a payment tablet or cash box to pay. There are intentionally no prices marked and customers are allowed to pay nothing, a little, or a lot. Meals are made using fresh ingredients donated by grocery stores and farms. Major support for Little John’s Lunchbox is provided by the Ecumenical Fund for Nutrition at Madison Community Foundation, Endres Manufacturing Company Foundation, Virent, and the Dane County Department of Waste & Renewables. Additional support is provided by J.H. Findorff & Son Inc.
