Most Influential often include untold stories

From the pages of In Business magazine.

This month, we honor the 2018 40 Under 40 class, our 18th annual celebration of some of the brightest and most driven young professionals this community has to offer. I’m amazed each and every year at the impact and influence these individuals already have had in their relatively short careers — not only at the companies and organizations that employ them, but also in the communities they give back to.

With the words “impact” and “influence” in mind, I want to make my annual call out for assistance as IB looks to recognize yet another group of influential people later this year. This July, we will feature our annual “Most Influential People in Greater Madison.” Our editorial staff has been busy compiling a list of deserving candidates who have been particularly remarkable over the past year, but what about yours? It is nearly impossible for our staff to stay on top of all of the many individuals making a difference throughout this community, and we know there are great stories of impact and influence that simply fall under the radar.

We invite you to send us your suggestions, and here are a few places to start:

  • Their impact should be seen here in the Greater Madison community.
  • Since this is an annual feature, we are specifically looking for individuals who have demonstrated their influence and impact within the past 12 months.
  • Their impact can be evident through their work at a business, a nonprofit, a government entity, or it could be someone who just makes an impact through their own effort.

I encourage you to send your nominations to IB Editorial Director Joe Vanden Plas at no later than April 13. In your email, please list the person that you would like to nominate and give detailed reasons why you feel he or she should make this year’s list. The IB editorial team will comb through all of our internal candidates as well as the external nominations, and we’ll select those we feel are the most worthy of recognition.

We know there are many untold but powerful stories of influence throughout this community, so help us bring some of them to light!
