Mortenson begins work on hotel near UW

After buying the land and completing hotel brand negotiations, Mortenson Development has begun construction work on a seven-story, 176-room Hilton Garden Inn on Regent Street near the University of Wisconsin–Madison campus.

According to an article in WisBusiness.com, the site at 770 Regent Street is strategically positioned and adjacent to both the Southwest Commuter Bike Path and East Campus Mall, which connects pedestrians to UW–Madison. It will provide convenient access to campus facilities such as the Kohl Center, Memorial Union, and Camp Randall Stadium.

The hotel will include a bar, restaurant, junior ballroom for events, fitness center, and parking garage with more than 200 stalls. It will be designed by Kahler Slater architects, with interior design by Design Force Corp.

Construction is set for completion during the winter of 2020-21.
