MGE gets approval for Middleton solar project

The Public Service Commission of Wisconsin has approved a Madison Gas and Electric pilot project for the city of Middleton, whereby interested MGE customers can receive half of their annual electric needs from local solar photovoltaic generation.

The project will be a 500-kilowat (kW) solar array that will deliver power to the electric grid, allowing Middleton participants to purchase renewable energy generated locally.

The city needs still needs to review and approve the project, which will serve approximately 250 customers. More information will be available after May 1.

The city of Middleton has a goal of 25% renewable energy by 2025.
