Metro Transit loses out on grant
The third time wasn’t the charm for Metro Transit, which lost out on a federal TIGER grant that would have provided a large part of the funding needed to help Metro improve the city’s transportation infrastructure, move more people through the city, and build a satellite bus garage.
A story in The Capital Times quotes Metro Transit general manager Chuck Kamp as saying he’s disappointed but will keep trying.
Reportedly, the feds had $500 million to grant but received more than 600 funding requests totaling $6 billion. More than half of the awards ($320 million) went to rural areas.
