Med Flight changes helicopter provider

UW Health Med Flight is replacing the company that provides its helicopters and pilots, according to an article in the Wisconsin State Journal.

UW Health Med Flight, which will expand to Portage in July, is switching from Colorado-based Air Methods to Louisiana-based Metro Aviation. The change, which will take place at the end of May, will allow Med Flight to use larger helicopters that accommodate bigger medical teams and fly farther before refueling.

A spokesperson for UW Health Med Flight says the switch is unrelated to a 2018 crash that killed a crew of three.
