Madison ties for lowest metro unemployment rate in US
Unemployment rates were lower in February than a year earlier in 228 of the 389 metropolitan areas ranked by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, according to a news release.
Madison was tied with Ames, Iowa for the lowest unemployment rate in the U.S. at 1.9% each. Appleton and Sheboygan were part of a six-way tie for second-lowest unemployment at 2%, and several other Wisconsin metro areas ranked highly as well, including Oshkosh-Neenah at 2.1%, Fond du Lac and Wausau at 2.3%, and Green Bay and La Crosse-Onalaska at 2.5%.
