Madison sees record-setting room tax revenue in 2022
According to NBC15, Madison’s room tax revenue for 2022 exceeded pre-pandemic levels. The push of local businesses like Harmony Bar and Grill — a bar, restaurant, music venue, and community gathering place — to diversify and draw tourism to the city has helped combat lingering fallout of the pandemic slump.
Pre-pandemic, from July–September 2019, Madison saw a record-setting $6,250,309 in room tax revenue. The pandemic of 2020 dropped that number to $1,556,656. The following year, room tax revenue began trending positively once more and hit $5,019, 580. Now, 2022 has set a new record with $6,733,483 reported.
