Madison schools consider raising summer school teacher pay to $40/hour

The Madison Metropolitan School District is looking at a proposal to increase summer school teacher salaries from $28 per hour to $40 per hour in an effort to reverse staffing shortages, according to a report from the Wisconsin State Journal.

Summer school staff pay was increased from $25 to $28 last summer in response to a staffing breakdown that prevented about 600 students from attending summer school.

The proposed raise is just for teachers and does not include support staff assisting with summer school.
