Madison jumps to 30th on Best-Performing Cities list

The Milken Institute, a nonpartisan think tank, has released its 2014 Best-Performing Cities ranking. Madison leapt 19 spots from No. 49 to No. 30 in the organization’s index, which ranks the nation’s 200 largest cities based on job growth, wage growth, high-tech GDP growth, and the number of high-tech industries.

The San Francisco-San Mateo-Redwood City, Calif., area took the top spot, while Atlantic City-Hammonton, N.J., came in last. Madison was the highest-ranked city in Wisconsin, coming in ahead of Green Bay (No. 130) and the Milwaukee-Waukesha-West Allis metro area (No. 137).
