Madison has fastest-rising rent in country
A new study from Apartment List finds that rent in Madison is increasing faster than in any of the nation’s 100 largest cities.
The 14.1% year-over-year growth rate for Madison rent costs is putting pressure on renters, and it’s a trend seen across much of the United States. Of the 100 largest U.S. cities, rents went up year over year in 72 of them. And of the 28 cities that saw rents decrease year over year, only Detroit is in the Midwest.
Other medium-to-large Midwestern cities that saw year-over-year rent increases include Minneapolis at 0.2%; Des Moines, Iowa, at 2.3%; and Milwaukee at 3.2%.
