Madison College nixes sports complex
Madison College wanted to develop an $18 million sports complex on property the school currently leases from the Dane County Regional Airport, but it scrapped the plan after the Goodman Foundation decided it could not support the commitment. The original idea called for four new softball fields, a baseball field, and a soccer field to replace dilapidated tennis courts and baseball, softball, and soccer fields near Anderson and Wright streets. The complex was also going to be used by East and La Follette high schools for their regional sporting events. The proposal also met with some neighborhood opposition.
