Madison approves controversial zoning ordinance
The Madison Common Council approved a Transit-Oriented Development Overlay Zoning Ordinance during its Tuesday meeting that has met with opposition from people worried about how it could change the face of historic neighborhoods, according to a report from WKOW ABC-27.
A statement from Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway said the zoning change will boost the housing and employment opportunities that can be constructed close to Madison’s high-capacity transit routes.
However, opponents say it will only help developers and damage the character of single-family home neighborhoods.
