Local restaurateur attempts arson

Krisann Hopwood, the former owner of Hop’s House Eatery in Mount Horeb, pleaded guilty to trying to burn her restaurant down to collect insurance money.

Hopwood admitted to blowing out pilot lights and leaving stove burners on, but a fire never resulted because another business owner in the same building reported smelling gas and called authorities.
