Local credit union leader appointed to CFPB Advisory Counsel
A local credit union leader has been appointed to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s (CFPB) Credit Union Advisory Council, according to a news release.
Chad LaFlash, associate vice president of research and product strategy at UW Credit Union, is one of just eight total members nationwide (four new members) on the Credit Union Advisory Council and will serve a two-year term from March 1 through Feb. 28, 2025.
In addition, P. Dean Corbae, the William Sellery Truckenbrod chair in finance and professor of economics at UW– Madison, was named to the CFPB’s Academic Research Council.
The Credit Union Advisory Council advises and consults the CFPB on financial issues related to community banks and credit unions. The Academic Research Council engages on the strategic research planning process and research agenda and provides feedback on research methodologies and collection strategies.
