Less is Moore when you’re in growth mode

A new year brings new changes, and at IB this is no different. Every year, we look for new opportunities to be a valuable business resource that honors our mission to connect and elevate the Greater Madison business community.

With this in mind, I’m extremely excited to announce a brand new IB event coming later this spring. The event is called “IB Presents: Grande Growth — Growing Bigger by Acting Smaller,” and our featured speaker is John Moore, a former marketing executive with Starbucks and Whole Foods Market. Moore played a major role in the marketing initiatives that transformed both of these companies into the global brands they are today, and on May 23 he’ll share some of those branding ideas and ideals that helped fuel Starbucks’ growth.

Moore is a talented storyteller who paints a memorable picture of real-life experiences that impacted iconic brands. However, we want this to also be an educational opportunity for local professionals representing businesses of all sizes. With this in mind, he’ll explain why small businesses need to look bigger and why big businesses need to act smaller, in order to achieve the “grande growth” that Starbucks has experienced over the years. This program will include actionable steps you can take at your business to see this growth come to life.

While there will be a marketing/branding undertone with Moore’s presentation, it is definitely not only designed for marketing professionals. This is a message that should resonate with any professional looking to promote company growth, whether it’s a top executive or someone working his/her way up the company ladder.

It’s a rare opportunity to have someone with Moore’s background and experience in Madison, and we’re thrilled to connect him with this business market. The event will take place on Wednesday, May 23, from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Madison Marriott West. Tickets are $45 per person or $375 for a table of eight (breakfast included).

We offer a 10% discount to anyone reading this column. To register, go to IBMadison.com/starbucks, click “Enter Promotional Code” on the registration page, and type in the code LeadingOff. This will take 10% off your ticket fee when you check out. We expect seats to fill up fast, so be sure to register and get this on your calendar!
