La Crosse company fined for lack of hires

Weber Holdings, a development company in La Crosse, failed to deliver on a promise to create 2,000 jobs by Jan. 1, 2013, and has subsequently agreed to pay $2.75 million in damages. La Crosse city officials said the jobs were to be created in a three-building complex at the Riverside Center, but only 1,400 to 1,800 jobs were actually generated.

The company may develop a fourth building, under a new agreement with the city, and has until Jan. 1, 2016, to do so.
