Kwik Trip has big expansion plans

With plans to open between 40 and 50 new stores each year including many in Wisconsin, Kwik Trip Inc. announced a $300 million capital investment project for the La Crosse region that is expected to add more than 300 jobs over the next five years and support its overall growth.

According to a release, the family-owned convenience store chain will invest $113 million in a 200,000-square-foot bread and bun production facility by late 2018 and make other improvements in its operations. Kwik Trip, which recently purchased all PDQ stores, currently has 621 stores across Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa. In 2017, the retail chain opened 36 new stores, bringing its total to more than 380, which support 12,700 jobs.

The Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. has authorized up to $21 million in state income tax credits over the next five years to help with Kwik Trip’s expansion, contingent upon the number of jobs created.
