Junior Achievement’s Monona office offers scholarship opportunity
In a news release today, the Junior Achievement of Wisconsin–South Central Region office in Monona invited high school seniors in Dane County to apply for two undergraduate study scholarships.
The Vernon J. Hellenbrand scholarship was created to honor the past president and CEO of Research Products Corp. The scholarship was developed in cooperation with Research Products Corp.’s healthy air brand, AprilAire, Junior Achievement of Wisconsin–South Central Wisconsin, and the Madison business community.
The $1,000 scholarship provides financial support for individuals seeking to focus their post-secondary education on business, finance, or entrepreneurship. Applicants for the Vernon J. Hellenbrand scholarship must be on track to graduate during the current term from a school in Dane County. In addition, the scholarship winner must be eligible for admission to an accredited technical school or college where the student will pursue courses toward an associate or bachelor’s degree.
The Lyda M. Locke Scholarship was created to recognize the inspiration Lyda M. Locke was to her family. Lyda M. Locke was the mother of E. David Locke, former CEO of McFarland State Bank and current board member of One Community Bank.
This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a Dane County high school senior who is eligible to graduate during the current school term from a Dane County high School. In addition, they must have participated in at least one Junior Achievement school classroom program and be eligible for admission to an accredited technical school or college where they will pursue an associate or bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or banking.
The deadline for both scholarships is April 30. Selection of the scholarship winners is based on the quality of their applications and not on financial need.
