June home sales: More of the same
Dane County’s single-family home sales in June were 4.1% below last June’s residential sales, according to the South Central Wisconsin MLS Corp., and the reasoning hasn’t changed: strong demand, extraordinary lean supply, and affordable mortgage rates for qualifying buyers.
June recorded more listings (1,095) compared to a year ago (994), but fewer sales (1,101 versus 1,149 in June 2016). The result is a jump in the median sale price from $234,450 in June 2015, to $252,500 a year ago, and to $267,415 this year.
The number of active listings as of the end of June was 1,242, down from 1,451 a year ago and 1,960 in June 2015.
