Judge Doyle Square to see modifications

The Doty and Wilson Street sides of a new parking garage scheduled as part as part of the downtown Judge Doyle Square project likely won’t have the matching exterior glass of the project’s future towers, according to a Wisconsin State Journal article. However, in light of an unplanned, additional $11 million public financing request from Beitler Real Estate Services last month, removing the glass will save about $2.15 million.

The front of the Pinckney Street garage, however, would still be sheathed in glass. Evidently, more cost-saving changes affecting the look of the proposed towers may also be in the works as officials deal with increased expenses. The city will now provide $50.4 million of the $186 million project.

When completed, JDS will bring a 252-room hotel, apartments, commercial space, a bicycle center, and 1,000 parking spaces to a two-block area in the heart of downtown.
