Job numbers revised

A revision from the Bureau of Labor Statistics revised Wisconsin’s January job numbers to the positive after first reporting a loss of 1,400 private sector jobs.

The new figure increased job gains by 7,200, for a net increase of 5,800. With the revision, Wisconsin ranked 36th in the nation for a yearly job growth of 1.22%.

February’s seasonally adjusted numbers improved on January, at least initially, showing another 8,000 jobs added, but those figures are preliminary since they are taken from a small sample of employers.

If they hold, the state would jump two spots to 34th in the nation, with a 1.43% yearly job growth.
