Job losses face PDQ employees

When Kwik Trip announced it would be purchasing all 34 PDQ stores, the majority of which are in Dane County, it also said it the deal would create 1,000 jobs.

That may eventually be true, but in the interim, most of the area’s 313 PDQ employees will likely lose their jobs beginning the week of Oct. 9 as the transition begins, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.

Stores around the area will begin closing either temporarily or permanently. PDQ’s corporate office will also lose 28 people.

Employees are encouraged to apply for jobs with La Crosse-based Kwik Trip, although none are guaranteed.

Kwik Trip is expected to spend between $30 million and $35 million renovating the former PDQ stores, and each will require more employees than did the PDQ stores.
