Jim Yehle, Class of 2009
IB is celebrating 20 years of the 40 Under 40 in 2020, and will be catching up with past recipients to see what they’ve been up to since they were honored. This week features Jim Yehle, president and CEO, J.H. Findorff and Son Inc.
What have you accomplished in your professional life/career since your 40 Under 40 selection?
Since 2009, I have continued to help lead Findorff as executive vice president, and then most recently as president and CEO. I am proud to have led Findorff in growing and providing opportunities for our amazing staff. I am excited for the opportunity to lead Findorff into the next chapter of our 130-year history.
What accomplishments, milestones, or endeavors have you attained in your personal life since your 40 Under 40 selection?
As the proud parent of three kids in the Madison Metropolitan School District, it has been amazing to see each of them grow. My eldest started driving in April 2019. At first, we were a bit nervous, but she is great and it has been an awesome experience. Now, having two high schoolers and a middle schooler, between games, concerts, practices, tournaments, tests, etc., we have accomplishments and proud moments as parents every week.
If you were to “do it all over again,” what (if anything) would you do differently throughout your career?
Nothing. I am so happy I came back to Findorff over 20 years ago and thankful for all the opportunities and support over the years.
How did your 40 Under 40 selection help your career?
I am grateful for the selection and appreciate the relationship with the other recipients over the years. I have crossed paths with many individuals in my professional and personal life and it has been a fun connection to have in the Madison community.
What is something that you have a new passion for since the time of your induction — either professionally or personally?
As our kids have gotten older, we appreciate the time we can have together on vacation and to travel. We have taken some fun trips and made incredible memories together. A highlight is that as the kids get older, they participate in the planning of the trips. This ensures that we all get to enjoy the trip and that it is not just what the parents want to do. You can’t put a price on time together as a family!
Based on your experience, do you have any advice for today’s young professionals (under 40)?
Value and appreciate relationships. As a company that has been in business for 130 years and has over 80% repeat business year over year, at Findorff we focus on building and maintaining relationships. I have been fortunate to meet many talented people on projects, boards, events, and in the community, and the friendships created over the years make my job very enjoyable.
