Jazz at Five returns to State Street tomorrow for 30th anniversary
Long-running outdoor series Jazz at Five is returning to State Street tomorrow evening to celebrate its 30th anniversary in Madison, the Wisconsin State Journal reports.
Following the cancellation of its 2020 season due to the pandemic, the show was moved to McKee Farms Park in Fitchburg to allow more audience spacing. This year, it returns to Madison’s Capitol Square.
The free, weekly performances will kick off with a concert headlined by Madison jazz singer Gerri DiMaggio, of Jazz at Five’s original producers. Also featured will be the Madison-based Helen Feest Sextet.
Jazz at Five will continue to run from 4–8 p.m. on Wednesdays through Sept. 6. Organizers are encouraging attendees to pay $3 to rent a chair for the show, purchase a table at the foot of the stage, or make a donation as the group seeks additional sponsorship. Capital Brewery will sell beer at the Jazz at Five Beer Tent, with proceeds supporting the organization.
