Isomark breathalyzer gets financial boost

Madison-based Isomark will get a two-year, $1.7 million “Fast Track” Small Business Innovation Research grant from the National Institutes of Health to speed development of its Canary breathalyzer for the detection of illnesses.

The device is able to detect metabolism and immune system changes, flagging early infections often found in hospital patients, such as pneumonia. It could also eventually provide an early marker for other diseases, such as Ebola.
