Icons in Business: Kimberly Jones, Dane County Regional Airport

At the final Icons in Business presentation of 2021, Kimberly Jones, airport director for the Dane County Regional Airport, offered insight into the airport’s history, its impact on the local economy, and the $85 million expansion now underway.

The Dec. 7 event at the Madison Concourse Hotel was well attended by area professionals eager to resume in-person networking.

What would ultimately become the Dane County Regional Airport began a century ago, receiving its first cabin airplane in 1927. The airport has come a long way since that five-seat passenger plane, expanding to service 1.9 million passengers annually, provide approximately 4,000 jobs, and generate an economic impact of more than $600 million each year. The airport continues to propel itself into the future breaking ground on a 90,000-square-foot-addition that will pave way for more flights and more passengers.
