IB named a finalist in prestigious Eddie Awards

In Business has been named a finalist in three categories in Folio: magazine’s Eddie Awards, joining other niche publications across the country as well as household names like Forbes, Entertainment Weekly, Glamour, and Redbook.

IB was recognized in three of the categories it entered, including B-to-B — Full Issue — General Interest/Enthusiast (for the June 2014 issue); B-to-B — Series of Articles — General Interest (for On the Job, by IB Departments Editor Jan Wilson); and B-to-B — Video (for the 40 Under 40 IBTV interviews).

“For magazine publishers, an Eddie Award is like an Oscar, Emmy, Grammy, and Tony all rolled into one,” says Alan Sanderfoot, In Business magazine’s associate publisher and creative director. “We’re so thrilled that our staff’s hard work to bring the Greater Madison community the best coverage has been validated by such a prestigious awards program. To be recognized with some of the country’s most popular magazines — including People, Reader’s Digest, Family Circus, Architectural Digest, and many others — is truly an honor.”

Winners of this year’s Eddie Awards will be honored at a breakfast on Dec. 11 at the Yale Club in New York City. Sponsored by Folio:, which is widely considered the premier resource for professionals in magazine publishing, the Eddie and Ozzie Awards annually recognize the best in editorial and design.

“Where else can you see the best in magazine media content and design from every corner of the industry?” says Bill Mickey, Folio:’s editorial director. “The work that’s showcased and honored in the Eddie and Ozzie Awards spotlights the immutable vibrancy of magazines on all platforms.”



For IB’s Wilson, the announcement is doubly sweet, since it follows On the Job’s designation as a finalist in the Best Editorial Series category for MIN’s 2013 Editorial & Design Awards.

With the Eddie Awards, however, IB has demonstrated its growing commitment to an ever-widening array of media.

“It’s especially exciting to be a finalist in both print and digital media,” Sanderfoot says. “As we explore more opportunities for digital content, it’s nice to know that we’re on the right track, especially when it comes to our video productions.”
