Housing development planned near Truax field draws concern over F-35 noise, East Wash traffic

A proposal from Bear Development of Racine for a housing project near the Dane County Regional Airport is drawing city staff concerns due to its proximity to East Washington Avenue traffic and F-35 fighter jet noise from Truax Field, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.

The project at 3100 E. Washington Ave. and Ridgeway Avenue would include a five-story building and a four-story building, which would collectively house 192 one- and two-bedroom apartment units. The development would also feature 57 parking stalls, 110 underground parking spaces, and 5,800 square feet of amenity space.

The Urban Design Commission looked over the preliminary plans Wednesday evening. Its members seconded the concerns of city staff. The city’s Plan Commission will decide if the land in question is suitable for housing.
