HotelRED hopes to expand upward

The boutique hotel that took so long to come to fruition is now hoping to expand.

HotelRED, directly across the street from Camp Randall Stadium on the corner of Monroe and Regent Streets, wants to expand from four to eight stories and add another 57 rooms plus a community room and a rooftop garden.

The neighborhood, which fought vehemently against a taller hotel plan in the past, will likely have plenty to comment about this time around.

Currently, HotelRED offers 48 rooms and parking for 56 vehicles. If approved, the expansion would increase the number of rooms to 105 and up the number of parking spaces to 80, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.
