Hotel group eyes east side Pawn America site

A five-story hotel may replace Pawn America on Madison’s far east side.

Iowa-based Hawkeye Hotels has submitted plans for a five-story, 243-room hotel at 2301 East Springs Drive, next door to Home Depot, that calls for a dual-branded hotel — a combination of an extended-stay Home2 Suites and Tru by Hilton, which markets itself to young professionals, according to a Wisconsin State Journal report.

Pawn America’s plans are not yet known.
